about

Roud 8276. If you like your coffee black, this may be one for you: a dark and bitter song from the Scots tradition - but striking and surprisingly engaging for all that.

During the winter of 2009/10, we were pleased to play host to harpist Cheyenne Brown who was passing through town. Naturally there was harp and music geekery. She and Shawn got talking about Scots language and songs, and one that came up was Fause Fause, which Shawn had not heard before - not a surprise when it comes to trad Scots material. Fause got under his skin. In his usual thorough fashion he researched its history, found varying versions of it, assembled a version to his liking, and tweaked it until he was happy.

Any evening in which you make a new friend and gain a new song is a Good Evening.
